LNFR – Lame Transfers

It is already a week into the transfer window, and I am not impressed. Reports are coming in from everywhere linking the worst with the best and the ugly with the beautiful. It feels like “panic signings” are about to be the trend this January. And while the whole world is anticipating the opening of the Asian Cup – Qatar 2011, the scouts are awaiting its end to grab the better of the tournament. I have no hopes that the next Maradona will be born in Qatar, but some Zidane “wannabes” may be on the verge of fame.

  1. Ronaldinho is searching for a club, in Brazil, when European teams are not listening.
  2. Gabriel Milito is looking for regular playtime. Can he be Chelsea’s own Coloccini?
  3. Mancini is finally offloaded back to Brazil. Even Leonardo couldn’t have faith in him.

    Mancini

You wish it was the other Mancini leaving, right?

  4. Sepp Blatter is leading the efforts for a World Cup in winter for Qatar 2022. How about a World Cup in winter for Russia 2018, too?
  5. Oguchi Onyewu will leave Milan soon after having attended all the fashion shows in Milan and missed all the games for that.
  6. Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor bust up is good for Mancini. Now the Citizens have a clue of whom to buy.
  7. Ipswich Town sacked Roy Keane. Another twist in the Roy Hodgson dilemma?
  8. Juventus are shopping for a striker after Džeko’s snub and Quagliarella’s severe injury. I heard that Christian Vieri is about to come out and play for Boavista.
  9. Mourinho proved his point: Levante 2-0 Real Madrid. Now give him his striker, and no, Benzema cannot score regularly.

Moratti: "Can you make Milito score again, or shall we sell him to Mourinho?"

LNFR – Transfers, Boys, and Glory Moments

The best part about the January transfer window is that games are already underway in the local leagues. This means that the rumors will intensify and become a reality overnight. Teams cannot wait to sign their saviors. Actions must be taken on spot. Still, many technical directors, sports directors, agents, and maybe players are apparently suffering from the hangover of New Year’s Eve and are dealing with events from a very relaxed perspective.

  1. Higuain’s injury is severe. Mourinho is the happiest. He still wants a striker. Benzema will never be a Milito.
  2. Beckham is about to break his vow and Bentley’s heart too. Let’s hope the former grants the latter a “Kodak Moment” at least.
  3. Bayern Munich signed Luiz Gustavo; a new Lúcio in the making perhaps.
  4. Readers of http://www.goal.com have chosen Cristina for the half-season award of best player; a great compensation for the unveiling of January 10, 2011.

  5. Macheda to the rescue. At least the Sampdoria fans might enjoy an attitude-less display.
  6. Igli Tare thinks at his height’s level and for Mancini’s good too: Roque Santa Cruz to save Edin Džeko’s deal.
  7. Italian Nationality + 22 years old + Internazionale Milano = Drastic Mentality Change. Oh, and the name is Andrea Ranocchia.
  8. Jeffrey Bruma is having mixed feelings about Heskey’s goal. Don’t worry young lad, you will never be alone. Reinforcements are on the way
  9. .“I look forward to helping him fulfill his potential here at Arsenal,” Wenger found his new toy: Fresh at the tender age of 18 for the revival of the Japanese nights.

    The "Lovely" Miyaichi

Ryo Miyaichi: A new Junichi Inamoto?

  10. Xavier Hernández, the Maestro, has reached the milestone of most appearances for Barcelona, just in time when we were missing Maldini’s example.
  11. Have you seen SAW 3D at the Movies? I can top that by Lucas Leiva, or what is known as the Benitez residual stain, horror scene here.
  12. I “nevermind the friend-lies” but I am sure every Al Ahli supporter and official has something to say about Zlatan’s antics while the Milan camp will never rest after Robinho’s injury. Good they signed Cassano. (Watch Zlatan’s video hereWatch Robinho’s injury here)
  13. Rio Ferdinand is trending #bestplayersfrom80s. Our own dearest @RioFerdy5 says: “… who were the top players from the 80s(maradona too obvious)??” I am happy, but are the English, too?

Transfers Saga; Revisited

Eight teams in the first round of transfers’ speculations and advice were not enough. The market will be open in five days from now, and the shopping carts are ready to checkout. Moratti is losing no time sacking and hiring, and maybe with his new coach comes new blood and a younger generation for the better of the game.

Leonardo

New Blood?

Chelsea FC: An EPL expert, and yes he is an expert and he will be the Ferguson replacement one day, commented on my previous post about changing the whole team saying: “They actually need a new bench, not a whole squad.” For many reasons I agree that this is one core issue that should be addressed at the Stamford Bridge, and this is why I am writing about Chelsea again. The recent games, with the absence of Lampard, Terry, and sometimes Essien, have exposed the vulnerabilities of the Blue Lions. No one managed to rise to the occasion and fill the gap, especially in the midfield. Ramires is not my favorite and he is not even a Deco or a Ballack. Some reinforcement in the middle of the park can put Chelsea back on track. A striker is a must. Edin Džeko is a good option, and Sergio “Kun” Agüero may add a fresh perspective to an aging squad.

FC Bayern Munich: Nowadays, they are fifth in the table and by the end of the season they will be fighting for the title. They were never in crisis, having won the title six times in the past ten seasons. However, the German giants have some real issues, mainly the Louis van Gaal syndrome. I still remember his Barcelona days where after being a winner he turns into a sore dictator. I see attitude issues; Martin Demichelis is loaned out, Daniel van Buyten may leave, and Miroslav Klose is pondering a move. The real hope for a revival is the comeback of Robben and the resurrection of Franck Ribéry. However, the Flying Glassman is injury prone and the latter needs some support, especially from the back four. A new goalkeeper and a new Lúcio can improve the status of the Bundesliga Champions.

S.S. Lazio: Talking about the Biancocelesti this season brings back the good old memories. They are now enjoying a good run in Serie A. Yet, to keep pushing and to hold on to their position, the Roman team should get a couple of defenders (van Buyten is an option) and someone upfront to help scoring more goals, consistently. Nicklas Bendtner may be one option, while a shock move or at least a loan out call, for Emmanuel Adebayor or Roque Santa Cruz may prove priceless. Runor has it Mounir El Hamdaoui is seeking an exit and Klose a way out.

Good Old Days - 1999/2000 Champions (When Nesta was the Captain)

Manchester United: Sir Alex knows that Antonio Valencia will be the real signing once he is back from injury. Before that happens, expected in February, some games have proven the need for some solidarity in the midfield. The glimpses of magic from the old school Scholes and Giggs will never last forever. 24 years serving the “Red Devil” will come to an end. It is time to surge in the new blood. Andy Carroll will happily jump into the frontline if called upon. Micah Richards will be happier switching the city side.

Arsenal: The Gunners are having issues with injuries. Well, it is not a new case with Arsene’s Army, yet they should think of the Champions League encounter with Barcelona. Many million defenders are needed. A new goalkeeper is something they should finally think about, for real this time, while Van Persie’s return will provide a much needed boost. My advice; buy a mature player already, enough with the kindergarten shopping and nurturing. Patrick Vieira will always be happy to offer few good lessons.

Moving on, the New Year will be busy. Some teams already started signing and off-loading. Barcelona sealed Afellay’s move, Leonardo took over the helm at Inter, and Cassano is on his way to Milan. If you have some advice, comments, or even bets, I will be happily listening. The questions will not be answered before the last minute of January 31st.

LNFR – Intransfer

It is the transfers again, and again, and again. Here we go, more of the LNFR “transfer oriented.” Mostly about Inter? What can I do? Moratti is my muse. Check them all here>>

Transfer Sagas

It is that time of the year when goal.com and the whole world start speculating the next big transfer over the Winter break. No one can tell, not even club owners, who will join which team at this moment of time. Until it is February 01, the rumors will increase, the bets will go sky high, the money will flood the green fields, and the fans will embrace their hopes and prayers.

I cannot do the guessing and I cannot be the resource to all the transfers, too. Yet, I fancy some moves happening out of the fear of losing the faith of the fans or because of financial fantasies. I can see a better January transfer market than last year’s. Some teams need to spend big; others need to spend wisely, whereas most of them should deal with the reality that the future is next season.

If you are a fan of one of the following European teams, spread the word, I am offering free advice today.

Manchester City: The most needed signing for the citizens is a creative midfielder. I have seen their defence shaky at moments, and their attack in lack of a “Tevezian” spirit, but I have not seen anyone creating the chances. Tevez and Silva always run into the middle of the park to get their balls. Yaya Toure changed overnight and started chasing his dream of becoming the next Zidane. A team that has millions to spend needs to get the 100 million dollar copy of Xavi; if any. Someone who can organize the midfield and create the spaces is what Mancini needs; someone who can make even JÔ a goal scoring machine.

Real Madrid: Mourinho wanted an additional striker at the beginning of the season. Florentino Perez is yet to listen to his demands. However, a needed player at the royal team would be a left back. And while they are it, another right back would make Mourinho’s vision a reality. Ramos will be the perfect partner for Carvalho, and Marcelo will sit on the bench and learn what he missed out when he didn’t watch Maldini. The surprising signing for Los Blancos will be Kaka. He will be the real signing when he returns to full fitness. The only surprising aspect about his return is that Perez will not need to pay any money to have him in the starting 11.

Internazionale Milano: The case with Inter is easy: Sign a new manager and a whole new squad. Moving on…

Chelsea FC: Check Inter’s signings above.

Liverpool FC: Check Chelsea’s signings above.

Juventus: Check anywhere in the world for a new spirit.

FC Barcelona: Ibrahim Afellay is on his way to the club this Christmas. He is a real genuine signing not because of the qualities he possesses but because of the meaning of such a signing. His signing means that the Catalan Giants are on the right track of covering up for the midfield maestro, the one and only Xavi. Guardiola might leave or be tempted to leave in the future. However, and for him to leave a legacy, he needs to make sure that the club signs players who can emulate Puyol’s defence spirit, Xavi’s vision, and Eto’o’s missing power. Yet, all those can wait for a thorough planning by the end of the season. What is needed now, is a striker, who is stronger than Bojan and with less attitude issues than Zlatan, to accept the bench role and really contribute when asked to.

AC Milan: Praise Nesta, offload Ronaldinho, and get some support to the flanks.

Marcos Rojo

Marcos Rojo is set to join FC Spartak Moskva; pity no one lured him earlier

I am not sure if I shall revisit this subject soon, but no one can tell either if Anelka and Rooney will remember how to score goals again.
